After joining this website in September, I have received a 13% return on my investment. Since this account goes with my TSP account, I believe it is time to harvest by moving 100% into the G Fund. The Scriptures say in Prov. 11:26, "He that withholds grain, the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be upon the head of him that sells it"
On occasion, I take a little off the top. As a Texan may say, "The cream curdles before the milk." But not this time. I may get back in after a while.

There is also the story about 3 servants each given the same amount of money to manage. One of them did not do so well. Perhaps you should reconsider your plan. Your goal is to have a secure comfortable financial retirement and we do not know when you will retire. To get 2 million dollars in your acoount as quickly as possible would be sweet don't you think? Ain't gonna happen staying in the G Fund.

At least the G fund gives interest, since it is not buried in the back yard. Lord willing, I have just three and a half years to go. For now, I will have to just catch the waves. Wait for a dip somewhere and ride to the crest and get out before it falls.

Today was the dip. Now I gather you have 3 years to go. Do you plan to begin withdrawing money from your TSP then or do you hope to wait until forced to do so at age 70.5?

Since I am FERS, I will have to take out some each year to live. My plan is to take the historical return of return for that Fund then subtract that year's inflation to get my income. This is in hopes I do not deplete the account.

I believe the Lord wants me to be a contrarian at the moment by investing in the F Fund, 65% of my portfolio, seeing how it is a shunned fund at the moment. (I am not going to lean on MY own understanding).

I'm a God fearing man myself... but it is my understanding that the returns on the F-fund move conversely to the value of the dollar... and since the dollar has - IMHO - hit rock bottom, I don't see how investing in the F (where I was for the past few weeks I admit) will help you reach your goals as the USD gains back ground in the coming months...

Just my 2 cents...

God Bless!

Will it be the Lord's fault if your account drops in value because of your IFT?

Remember I am only three years from retirement. So I have to be cautious. I had no problem investing in the C fund when I started with Tspcenter (same as my real fund). But now there is as much downside as upside potential. You guys can go for it.

Hey Hulk - when the Lord tells you to make another move could you let me know?

I didn't hear him 3 weeks ago when he told you to move to F... Now I'm sitting in all stocks down an average of 2.12% across the C,S, and I funds...

Thanks and congrats!

Well as you can see from today's action in the stock market, your return's just got better. The Lord is dealing with my situation, which means it may be a long time before my next move (patience being a virtue). It could even mean I lose 5% of my portfolio and buying 5% more of the F fund. Believe you me it took a huge gulp when the stock market was going down in 2009 to keep doing that but as you know it worked for those that stayed in. But I digress, yes I will post when the Lord impresses upon me my next move.

It may be just a 2% return since my last change on 4/1 , but I thank the Lord for it. Now I believe the Lord wants me to go into the C fund at 65% and 35% in the G. Hopefully, now there is as much upside as downside after all the selling that has been done.

The Lord must be only 65% sure about you.

That's all me. I like to hedge and buy down, if needed.
