Re: Exact Date
I subscribe to Larry Williams ("Larry TV") and with his weekly update today I can say that Larry has considerably changed his view of when the summer top may occur. It's no longer 7/27. Since it's a subscription though I won't be like Cramer and spill the beans.

Re: Memorial Day impact on investing
Curious TSPTiming, what did your July 4 data show? The daily data since 2004 confirms that the last few days of June and through early July are usually positive, so it's best to be in stocks during that period. In particular, if you add up the gains and losses (for the S fund) for the last 3 days o...

Re: Memorial Day impact on investing
I bet the author got his idea for that from Jay Kaeppel's article from last November. http://jayonthemarkets.com/2019/11/26/happy-holiday-days-revisited-again/ I recently took a look at TSP data since 2004 for the 3 days before and after Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day and came up with...

Re: Inverse ETF question
When you suggest it's not smart to hold inverse ETFs for more than a day...perhaps you were really referring to leveraged ETFs? Whether you were or not, here's a good article on that:

Re: VA refinance rates?
My wife and I just closed on 4/30 on a 2.875% 30-year loan (refinance, not the original loan) through Navy FCU with zero origination fee, zero points. I locked in the rate on the exact day of the panic low in interest rates in early March and the lowest rate offered (with 2 points) on that day was 2...

Re: Excellent video on credit market damage & what lies ahea
Thank you for posting that. It's a good dose of reality from someone that knows what he's talking about. I've been watching Gordon T. Long's videos for at least 10 years and the latest one from 3/19 shows his predictions are right on track. We're now in the "abuse" stage where the governme...

Re: Almost there
Per Friday's commentary by Tom McClellan, 15 months is typical for the yield inversion to show it's full impact. So mid-2020 and then again in mid-2021 is when to expect a very weak or even a negative GDP. https://www.mcoscillator.com/learning_center/weekly_chart/it_takes_15_months_for_yield_curve_i...

Re: Create petition
There was a petition to increase the number of IFT's a few years ago. It only got a couple thousand signatures of the 100,000 required: https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/allow-4-free-interfund-transfers-month-thrift-savings-plan While I'd love even just one more IFT per month, I'm afraid tha...

Re: Retirement in sight
Your Sarasota option is a good one. I retired at the end of 2018 and my wife and I moved from Albuquerque (yuk) to Sarasota (Lakewood Ranch specifically) last year. We absolutely love it and have barely scratched the surface of all the things to do here. There's a good reason why Sarasota gets ranke...

I. Momentum. Higher prices bring higher prices. Especially when there's now a whole generation of new investors that have never experienced the pain of a bear market. They will, eventually, but for now it's the latest get rich scheme since bitcoin is old news. J. Is there a better country to invest ...

Re: FantasyTSP - Are We Getting Smarter?
Interesting question you've posed. What I'd want to see to evaluate it is just to looked at the C fund as the benchmark, then for each year what PERCENT of members exceeded the C fund? For 2019 for example, it looks like there were 66 people out of the 1339 total that exceeded the C fund return: htt...

Re: TSPTiming's FantasyTSP Account
Since the TSPCenter advisory service returns list hasn’t been updated in years (it's been showing a return of +1.87%, in red font, for years) I’m just posting a brief summary of how my system did in 2019. In summary, it was another year for the buy and hold crowd to outperform timing strategies. My ...

Non-Fiction: The Fourth Turning - William Strauss and Neil Howe (this book is hard to read (lots of big words LOL) but really helps to understand generational differences... and though it was written in the 90's, wow they nailed predictions of what life would be like these days!...and now I know wha...
