Tsp loan for closing costs?
Hi. I was just wondering if anyone has used a tsp loan for closing costs on a house purchase? Is it a 10k limit? We may try to purchase a home prior to sale of our current home, which we have equity in and I just want to make sure we have some extra cash on hand in the interim. From what I read, I s...

Re: Real estate
Locally there has been low supply so prices have held/increased. Maybe in a tourist area you could expect discounts, but otherwise with things reopening I would not hold out for a dip. Also, mortgage rates are low, which usually goes with price increases. This is less of an economic issue and more a...

Re: New round of Stimulus
The GOP does not want more stimulus, especially a bill that would allow for unemployment to remain low until January. Powell made it seem the Fed may do more buying, which could propel the market up, though seemed to be a negative reaction to his comments this morning. With that said, do we retest l...

https://www.tsp.gov/InvestmentFunds/FundOptions/fundPerformance_L2020.html Displays the latest fund make-up of L2020. You could potentially just mimic your account with those percentages or slightly tweak. However, it has been automatically been rebalancing to almost match L income. Maybe you don’t ...

Re: Would You Sacrifice One Person To Save Five?--Anything G
Fascinating. On the surface 5 lives are greater than 1. However, what about chaos theory and ripple effects? What if the children of the one who is killed are upset, and then cause a greater loss of life through a subsequent action. We are complex organisms. For myself, I’d likely wrestle in wonderi...

Re: WFT....
But it will be a new normal in a way. Employers may start realizing they can downsize and cut costs. I see massive drive thru lines for the chains, but have seen many local shops close up. I’ve heard anecdotes of people cooking more and reading how much they can save/eat healthier. It’s as if there ...

Agreed. The only one who worries me is if somehow Bernie is elected.

Re: Do Presidents Really Matter to Markets?--Anything Goes F
There was a recent report/poll on CNBC for the coming election and it said the market would react best to a Biden presidency with a republican controlled senate. Their reason was it would keep recent policy including tax breaks without the impulsive tweets and decisions by Trump that have caused flu...

Re: Market Close Prediction for 4/24/2020 end of day
No idea. If the market rages higher on a med trial, but stays flat despite negative news on said drug, I’m not sure what really brings us back down. Durable goods was lower than expected and futures don’t respond. Were stocks undervalued before? The near whole economy shuts down and only down 13% ye...

Re: Market Close Prediction for 4/22/2020 end of day
I think up only due to lack of any economic reports today and the sell off last two days. Senate had passed their measure after market close yesterday, which was good? Some good earnings yesterday all things considered. Tomorrow picks up selling again with bad economic data? https://www.marketwatch....

Re: Are you Recovered?
Oil now down to 2.4 wti and Mro stock only down 4%. I seriously will switch to just buy and hold. Clearly I know nothing about trading. It’s like oil went from 35 to 30 and the market dipped 5 percent, but a contract, albeit expiring tomorrow went from 18 to a penny, and not a flinch. All it took wa...

This is true. But Marathon oil is up today, when oil is down 40plus percent. What gives?

Oil down 40% in a day and the market does not react...the Dow will be at 29.5k in a week like nothing has happened. Market manipulation?
