Re: If I could do it all over again…
I've been with a seasonal approach since 2014, and it's served me very well. It took me from 2002 - 2014 to reach $40k (of which $35k were my own contributions plus civil service matching). Since I started following seasonal with a passion in 2014, I crossed the $100k mark in late 2019, and the end...

Re: If I could do it all over again…
Going back to day one of employment, I would’ve payroll contributed equally to L50, G, C, S, and I
Also, I would’ve just moved (100%) of my gains
(from the 5 funds mentioned)

Recovered?
Happy New Year!
How is everyone doing with the COVID loss?
I’m totally recovered as a whole, but I’m still fighting to regain my S Fund losses.

Re: Santa rally this year?
Some may say we just had it. We just came out of the Oct bottom to reach the highs hit back in late July. The S&P did pretty good this year, but when you look under the surface, only a handful of stocks were responsible for the gains. Take away those stocks (magnificent 7) and the S&P was i...

Re: Santa rally this year?
It's too early for a Santa Rally Yup, this is more of a seasonal rally before the actual rally. There is historically a lull/drop the first 2 weeks of December for most indices. I never allow myself to have an opinion on anything that I don't know the other side's argument better than they do. - Ch...

Re: FERS CSRS Sick Leave
I have been using my sick leave over the past 2 - 3 years. I've brought it down from a high of 1,200 hour to about 600 hours now. I have several more years in which to get it close to zero. It's not worth saving in my opinion. Is it bc the worth of getting paid 100% of pay versus a fraction for usi...

Re: FERS CSRS Sick Leave
They have specific chart that shows how many months and days, 174 hours = calendar month, anything in excess of a full month does not count so be sure to use it for medical/dental visits prior to retirement. See https://www.fedweek.com/retirement-benefits/calculating-service-credit-for-sick-leave-a...

Re: FERS CSRS Sick Leave
Wouldn't one be better off getting paid for a year of sick days, along with the year of service it takes to receive them? Retirement calculation 100000 with 1 yr at 1% would give you 1000 for a yr Versus a year of pay 100000 The trick is convincing management that i will be sick for the last 365 da...

Re: FERS CSRS Sick Leave
I’m guessing your retirement plan is FERS. If you plan to retire under the 60 yr and 20 yr provision, your sick leave can’t be used to make the 20 yr requirement. It’s only used afterwards, in the annuity calculation. is is true that if you have say 6 months of sick leave, you can retire 6 months e...

Re: Top 3 years of salary
High three from my recent retirement went back three years from my last day at work: 30Jun2023 to 1Jul2020. I believe they count every day while employed (including weekends and sick/annual leave days). Shift differential pay is included, but holiday pay and overtime pay is not included. I'm not su...
