Re: Currently in the market or not?
I am currently in the G fund - - I was last in S fund at the end of August and am down 20% for the year. That obviously hurts. If I was running a 50/50 S/C buy and hold, I'd be down just a touch more than that so seasonal trading hasn't really helped or hurt this year. Until the beginning of Septemb...

Re: Just Like clockwork...
It's been pretty quiet here of late (as it often is in a big down swing), but I wanted to say @Wingchaser that I really appreciate the update posts. It's super helpful to have a sense of what other folks are up to and thinking. For me, I am really torn between staying in C until next week per my str...

Re: Anyone want a competition here....?
2004 and 2022 have a lot of similarities in the charts YTD so my prediction is that 2022 mirrors 2004 for the rest of the year. I merged the two charts (2022 YTD + 2004 thru the end of the year) and then removed the optimism at the end of 2004 (stocks surged around the election; I still think they w...

Current Wisdom on Seasonal Strategy in Taxable Accounts?
I am sure this has been discussed previously, but I searched the forum and didn't see anything in the last few years. So, sorry in advance if this is duplicative. I've been using TSPCalc/TSPCenter since the beginning of 2021 and followed TSPsmart before that. I have a lot of faith in seasonal strate...

Re: Just Like clockwork...
Lots of strategies move to S tomorrow and it looks like some regulars are moving in (looking at you Bloobs). I am joining the club. My biggest concern is getting trapped in the market when the TSP site goes down at the end of next week. So, I guess I'll be watching closely and hoping for the best. H...

I'd love to see an "Ignore Infrequent Users" filter per 12^2's suggestion.

Re: Just Like clockwork...
I am moving from S to G two days earlier than my strategy (167200) calls for (Monday instead of Wednesday). The news really makes it sounds like the Ukraine invasion is imminent and I just don't want to be in the market when it happens. That said, the market didn't dropped during the Crimea annexat...

Re: Just Like clockwork...
Stick to your seasonal strategy stay in S. Seasonals that returned average of up to 30% with STDs from 3 to 4.5 consistently from 2004 to 2021 have weathered every storm stay in S until Feb16th. Deviating from strat losses money. Dont lock in your losses and dont miss the ride up. I note that your ...

To Capitulate or Not To Capitulate
I've been following the disparate discussions on the wisdom of holding when you're down (to not lock in losses) vs. getting out if it looks to get much worse. There's a smattering of these conversations in "Just Like Clockwork" and "Keep Calm Index," so I thought I'd start a thre...

Re: Keep Calm Index
Staying in G. Likely bull trap especially as the C approaches the 200 MA from below. I'd very much like to be in G. But my previous mistakes always came because I locked in my losses and then watched the market go back up without me. I moved to seasonal strategies in part so I wouldn't be impulsive...

Re: Keep Calm Index
I'd just flag the following: For January, many of the popular strategies move from I to G on "day 1" and move from G to S on "day 10." That's a very sad YTD of -6.18%. Unless you compare it to popular buy/hold strategies: C YTD = -7.41% S YTD = -10.98% 50/50 CS YTD = -9.38% I am ...

https://mediacloud.theweek.com/image/upload/f_auto,t_single-media-image-desktop@1/v1640203291/258277_768_rgb.jpg @Tomanyiron. Just wanted to say thanks for all this work. I read Anticipation every day last year and will surely read the Keep Calm index posts this year. They're very much appreciated....
