Re: Thoughts?
So let me count the ways: I started in the military (go Army!), then at NIH where I worked as an epidemiologist in Neurological Disorders & Stroke Institute, and then the Eye Institute, then I worked in budget in the Allergy and Infectious Diseases Institute, then as a writer/editor for the NIH ...

Re: Medicare without SS
I too am paying $164.90 for Medicare Part B, which will increase to the $174.70 in December. --I am not yet on Social Security. And although I have not been working this year, I also have to pay $65.90 Part B IRMAA because my spouse and I file a joint income tax return that exceeds the IRMMA limits....

Re: Seasonal investing and recessions
I think I missed something newsworthy because I can't make sense of what the market has been doing these last couple of days. By all accounts---talking heads, seasonal trends, and directional movement, the C & S-funds shouldn't be ascending to the heights they're hitting right now. I expected th...

SPY_2023-11-03 DMI ADX.jpg Jatelle and 12squared: I'm learning a lot from your postings and have only just recently been trying to analyze and track the directional movement index (DMI) and the average directional index (ADX) over time. And comparing these indicators to the S&P 500 trend line f...

Re: Leave TSP for High Yield Dividend Growth ETFs
Thanks all. Great advice here. I've decided to stay in TSP after all---at least for a while anyway. Since I'm retired and living off pension and social security, I've decided to move my TSP balance into the life cycle funds (L2040) where I hope not to be checking on it all that often (and it's makin...

Re: Leave TSP for High Yield Dividend Growth ETFs
Hi All. Quick update: we've decided to stay put for another year; me in TSP and my spouse in UBS. I'm considering moving some of my TSP into one of the life cycle funds. This will give me more time to look into some other ETFs like JEPI and QYLD mentioned by a few of you as well as read up on some o...

Re: TSP Annuity or not
Be aware that if you convert your TSP holdings to an annuity: 1) you cannot revert back to regular TSP; 2) they are still taxable (unless it's a Roth); and 3) any monies remaining after you die, go away (they do not go to benefactors). There are fixed indexed annuities outside of TSP; some with surr...

Re: Leave TSP for High Yield Dividend Growth ETFs
This company is suppose to be a fiduciary company but it gets a little confusing. I looked at the ADV-2A form I by no means am an expert at decoding these but from what I gathered. Retirement protection services is owned by MarketGuard and they use charles schwab as the custodian. MarketGuard state...

Leave TSP for High Yield Dividend Growth ETFs
I'm considering transferring my TSP balance into privately managed high yield dividend growth specific stocks and deferred fixed index annuities. My husband and I are both retired; and I am weary of trying to manage my TSP money and seeing losses because of ill-timed ITFs. I know it could be better ...

Re: Historical Data on New Site
It is lower as a result of Fed TSP placing my funds in 100% stocks (50-50 C and S) since end of May/beginning of June thereby creating greater losses than otherwise.

Re: Historical Data on New Site
I spent over 3 hours on the phone w/TSP fund officials this past week. I was bounced around their "distribution" dept to fix a discrepancy i noticed in my recent funds distribution since the new TSP site went live, only to be told that my case has to be escalated and to expect a call back ...
