Re: Pros and Cons of CES (Cyber Excepted Service)
Hope you already got your answer but here is my personal assessment. 1. Slightly easier to hire/onboard new employees. 2. Step 11 and 12 allowed for GS-12/13/14s for a limited amount of personnel 3. Everything else the same as the old archaic GS system (No pay banding & no relief for the GS 15 S...

2022 Federal Pay Raise
Anyone have any better news on our raise for next year? It looks like a 2.2% pay raise +an average of .5% locality pay change if you are eligible. With inflation at 6.2% it is only a 3.5 - 4% pay cut this year.

Re: Does C have more room to run?
I hope you have not been sitting on the sidelines. You’d be surprised how many Govies are retiring with 20, 30 & even 40 years having never been in anything but the G FUND. I’ve personally known several. They “merely” captured the MATCH @ the beginning of their service. There’s even a “strong p...

Re: Has anyone done a comparison?
This would be difficult because I do not know what dates to use. Do you only look at the exact days that the POTUS is in the job or do you look at the days when a predominance of investors anticipate a POTUS coming to power. And what about congress?

Re: TSP isn't cheap in retirement?
I have been in the TSP for 30 years and have a large balance in the traditional side only. Since I live in Maryland, I have to pay 10% state taxes to put money into ROTH so I don't. Should I create a small ROTH TSP, so that I have the possibility to move ROTH fund into it during retirement if I need...

Re: College 529 fund question
For 529's look at what benefits your states provide. As an example in Maryland your contribution as fully deductible upto $2500 per account. In Maryland with a 10% income tax that is a free $250 (Now you can create accounts for cousins, nieces, grand parents etc and transfer them back to your child ...

My plan calls for me to buy back in on the 11th trading day for I then the 17th day for S. I understand how tempting it is to buy back in but I must follow my plan.

Re: Inquiring Minds, what’s your strategy?
My Strategy is 35% C 35% S and the last 30% was #71767, but thinking of moving to #66688 since it only dips into I fund once and I am nervous amount EU economy with BREXIT and COVID and longer term baby boomer demographics.

Re: So how far is this S fund gonna run?
My plan was to move from S to F today, but I am going to delay a day based on the current 2% down on S fund and .2% up on F Fund. I hope that there will be a bounce and it wont be as bad tomorrow.

Re: How many of the leader boards
Are you asking if their Fantasy TSP tracks their personal TSP account? If so I can answer what I do with my personal account. I keep 35% C 35% S and the last 30% tracks my fantasy TSP. That’s interesting! I was planning a similar strategy with different numbers. So at each IFT you always used 30% f...

Great job, and remember that $100K in a ROTH is comparable to $150K in a conventional for spending power.

Re: S Fund Bubble??
I feel like the S is on a roller coaster that has gone too high. I am looking forward to jumping to the F fund on the 12th day of the month next Tuesday per my seasonal strategy. This also correlates to the schedule of the congress figuring out the $2 Trillion stimulus bill which is pushing the S ri...

Re: Survey Question #2
Should we have read "< $250K" as less than $250K. So if somebody had $110K balance they should check the < $250K button or should they click the $100K button which is the closest number to them?

Re: TSP $2 Millionaire
There is an OPM report with similar figures. Only about 2% of total TSP participants have reached the million dollar level. The TSP has approximately 5.9 million participants, both active and retired. The participation rate is 88.5%, although 40% are only investing in the G fund. The largest indivi...
