Why would the market “crash” now? Most people can’t even determine the reason for this correction other than it had been 2 years and we were due. Others are saying it is rising yields. Didn’t we all expect yields to rise this year? I see this as a temporary setback and I’m not the least bit worried. Of course it sucks, but to think this is going to be 1929 or even 2008 is ridiculous in my opinion. The fundamentals are good and I haven’t read any articles saying the market we will be down at the end of the year. Sure, if the banking system was on the verge of collapse I would have immediately moved to G, as in 2008. If I would have been lucky, and let’s all admit if you were in the G fund when this fell a little it was luck, I would be buying the heck out of this opportunity. I’m not saying there won’t be further losses, but it’s hard to see a scenario where we end the year down from here. As the saying goes, Corrections are healthy because they move out the weak and scared hands. Once these folks move out the market will start moving higher as earning are expected to continue to exceed expectations.

Was it necessary to type this out in all caps, as if you are shouting at the internet?

I agree he should never yell CRASH on a crowded trading floor (or MOVIE! in a crowded firehouse for that matter) - but it could have been worse - he could have yelled it in comic sans.mjedlin66 wrote:Was it necessary to type this out in all caps, as if you are shouting at the internet?

It can only drop to 0, but it can go up to infinity.
I am just an average Joe. I have no clue to what the market will do.

My buddy the annuity salesman loves this stuff. He tells people that they will need Six (6) years to recover from a crash. I have told him this is tommyrot. He actually agrees with me that the market recovers very quickly, but that does not make for a great sales pitch. He sells fear, and fear has made him rich. If the market was at 2008 levels I would have to keep buying at the fire sale.
