Why didn't I look for this site decades ago?

Post by soccermoth »

Hi there,
I've been investing the maximum percent for maybe 25 years. In the beginning I parked it 100% in C and paid no mind. At some point in the years after the 2008 horror I diversified to 40/20/20/20 - C/S/I/G. I don't even know when I did that. I was working part time while I raised my children. In 2020 I'm now an empty-nester and returned to full time employment to pay the college bills. I'm surprised how much money I have in my TSP- more than I think I ever really expected.
I feel like the stock market is overvalued but I haven't done anything because I don't know what to do. I'm not retiring in the next decade so I don't want to be in G. I've never invested in F because I don't understand it. I am hoping to learn from the folks on this site what if anything I should do differently from here out.
I don't have any special economics skills and I never managed to pass beyond pre-calc so my contributions will just be my own brand of common sense as I see it.

Welcome!

Feel free to ask your questions. There's a lot of very knowledgeable folks here, so you're sure to get good answers on any retirement / TSP topic you can likely imagine. Just don't feed the trolls that show up from time to time.

Welcome aboard soccermoth. Don't worry about about what you can/can't contribute as we ALL contribute in some way. Me? I just post stupid pictures and gifs .... because it's funny I guess.

8-)

You got about a decade to go before retirement ... same as me ... and I'm all in 45C/45S/10I until I get a year or two before I pull the plug. But that's me.

Hi soccormoth, Welcome! I recommend starting with the recommended reading in Aitrus' signature block. Really valuable.
