Hi Bloobs, are you following a TSPCAL strat? Which one?

Take a look at 235027 for a Mid Term election year.

I switched to 235027 about 6 months ago. I like the low STD and the high CAGR.

I created that one a year or 2 ago (I think). It's supposed to be an all encompassing safety option. Be mindful that it might not always hold though (the low SD). But it should be a nice one for some time to come.

Enjoy!

I started watching then following 235027 over a year ago as it checked all the boxes for me and seemed like a solid strat. Every time I deviated from it thinking I knew better it cost me. Which is why I ended 2025 at 22.73 vs 235027's 27.09. Don't even ask about 2024:(

This one I created to be even safer https://tspcalc.com/seasonal.php?ID=237441...but there's no telling if you can use it in the future.

I just checked it out but I am really liking #235027 - thank you for building it!

I'd like to avoid the negatives of 2022 and 2018 but using an active tspcalc strategy can be tough because of the commitment to the on time IFTs.

Thanks Bubba. 235027 is still my favorite though. If you had not created it in 2024, I probably would have, as every time I was trying to make strats that fit my parameters, 235027 kept popping up.
Nnylfa, in addition to setting up the text alerts in TSPcalc to remind me to trade, I print out the strategy calendar and have it on the wall next to my computer. The visual aid really helps and I look at it every day.

I'm a bit obsessed with creating the lowest volatility + highest CAGR achieving system. I love the idea of being able to do whatever I like as long as I can just follow a strategy without brains. 2 years ago I had found a system that was less than 4 SD and had a CAGR of something like 25 or 26. That 4 SD was entirely demolished and I ended up feeling a bit burned afterwards. I created some of these strats (and a couple of others) for testing purposes only, but if it does something for someone, then we're all the richer because of it.

Great idea! The visual aid will be very helpful so I have a couple days notice. Thank you!

So if I'm correct, 235027 has a trade by noon into the S Fund. I have been eyeing that seasonal for this year. The S Fund has been quite strong so far this year. Banks are reporting now which might explain the pressure on the DOW today so far. Gold and Silver as Crypto selling off a bit. Chip sector seems to be getting some fresh air with TSM and Micron news. But man I struggle going into a trade over a long weekend. And into a more risky S Fund. So much can happen that can trigger the markets. How do you Seasonal guys deal with this. Just trust it and let it ride? If I was in my 30's it would be a much easier decision.

Well, from my experience, if you are using a plan stick with it. I always did better in the long run. I also don't like trading on Fridays due to uncertainty of the weekends. But as I posted above, when I think I know better, I usually get burned. Not always, but enough to finally teach me a lesson! And yes, today 235027 goes into S, on a long weekend, which does make me a little nervous but I'm doing it

Ok, jdoma, you about sold me. I mean it's just numbers on paper at the end of the day, ha. But on that topic, and I'm embarrassed I don't know this. But let's say we bomb Iran, take over Greenland, invade Minnesota and all the banks crash over the weekend, is there any way to cancel my trade order before the open on Tuesday?

Just use Strat #235026 instead. Only difference is it moves to S on Tuesday, but offers a higher mean and a lower Std Dev for January. A win win...

I'll check out 235026, always looking for that higher return, hopefully lower risk return.

VAmanBulls: World could go to crap over the weekend or China could announce a change to democracy on Monday. You never know. I look at investing as legalized gambling. You do your research, manage your risk, and make your picks. But eventually you gotta roll the dice.
I did almost 21 years fed and in that time maxing my TSP contribution for 18 of those years. Most of the gains were in my last 5 years (compounding interest is awesome!). I was able to retire just shy of the big 1. Its doing great now and I can easily see my TSP or rollover IRA withdrawals permanently exceeding my pension.
