End the year with a bang?
I read today that according to the Stock Trader's Almanac, the market has averaged a gain of about 1.5% since 1950 in the final five trading days of the year and the first two days of the new year.
I'd love to squeeze another 1.5% out of 2007 if possible. November was a rough month I haven't completely recovered from yet

Well.. seems you got your wish as the year ending in a bang!! (pun intended). Except it exploded downwards rather than upwards as your averages indicated. These last four days of 2007 dropped my 100% S fund by 2.3%. Who knew....... then over the next few weeks I started looking at how to manage my TSP rather than use the BUY/HOLD Strategy. Funny thing is, I seriously thought about transfering to G/F Fund around XMAS time to protect CAPITAL since the fund was at such a high level. But, listening to all the proponents of BUY/TRADE kept me in S fund. Now, I just learn what I can about the market, read what I can from various site (including this one) and go with my insticts. Regardless of outcome, at least I made the choices --- good or bad!! Good luck to you all in 2008!!
