Planning Return of Fantasy Trophies
I'd like to bring back fantasy TSP's trophies. I'm almost done fixing bugs around the site and this is one feature I'd like to work towards. I don't know a whole lot about how trophies used to be done, but this is what I'm thinking:
1. 1st place (only) trophies would be awarded after the close of each month. There will be trophies for each month and each year. No trophies for 2nd place, because "If you're not first, you're last." - Ricky Bobby
2. A congratulatory thread would be generated automatically. Something like "July 2020 Winner - CrondaNot". There people could discuss the closed month.
3. Trophy icons would have the YYYY or MM/YY stamped on them.
4. Trophy icons will be smaller and move from the user's avatar down to each user's signature line, where several earned trophies could be could be lined up in a row.
This should be up and running before the end of the year. Now is your chance to provide input.

Is there going to be some form of tiebreaker or will everyone that has the best return for the month/year going to share?

I hope you get it set up ... not that I would ever win any of them

If a person does really really bad will you take their past trophy away? (e.g. as crondanet5 has done this year.)

MJ, I like your trophy proposal.

Wait a minute. That's not fair. It's 2020 and everyone should get a trophy. It may hurt someone's feelings if they participate and don't get a trophy!

I move that we have a pink unicorn-shaped trophy, complete with rainbows and sparkles, and a label indicating: "I'm special and unique! Just like everybody else!" just for Hoss.Hoss2112 wrote:Wait a minute. That's not fair. It's 2020 and everyone should get a trophy. Are you still in contact with king? I believe he awarded to the top 3. You could mark the trophies 1,2,3. So many players these days a bit more recognition will help identify people to watch, like Tommie the G iron.

He did a great job with turnover and now I'm familiar enough with his code that I am both willing and able to let him be.crondanet5 wrote:Are you still in contact with king?
That explains why there are 20 annual winners. That was a head scratcher.crondanet5 wrote:I believe he awarded to the top 3.

I'll recognize the top 3 in the automatically generated threads. But trophy is for #1.

Or alive.

Ranking now 49, leader board. Being as high as 29, this would be something to shoot for! Trying to make the 1st page, ranking 1-20.

One trophy does not reflect the effort the other two at the top put into their IFT decisions. And the lead moves as it did last week. Giving three trophies means newbies and wannabes have several to study to develop their plan. One trophy is not enough.

Would you be able to have a “All Time Running Contest”. Not just for the year, or for members that logged in recently. If that list is too much for the system to handle, then maybe just display just top 50 or so.
