Leader Board(Anyone Notice)

There’s 6 members within the first 2 pages (alone) of the Leader Board that started their
Fantasy TSP account around Mar 2020 ......... hmmmmm.

Can it be a coincidence?

More like something else to be fixed. If you go back 6 pages it seems everybody started 2019/2020. But if you click on a member their start date is different from that shown on the Leader Board.

Existing Players have a start date of 31 Dec 2019 bc the challenge is ytd. I think the leader board has a new start for existing members (last day of previous year).

Except for new Fantasy TSP players. Their start date is the actual day they started Fantasy until they become Existing Players.

Looks like the Players with start dates around Mar 2020 are seasoned investors. OR, they just hit the reset button, or just have new names.

I haven't been able to figure out how they got such a high rate of return. 65% in 5 months? Is the key to this game RESET at the bottom of a big drop and then move into first place?

I think so, bc around Mar was the lowest of the low for the year. Those seasoned TSPiers pretty much caught that low and rode the wave to Jul/Aug.

Look at the share prices from Mar 2020 till now, 60% is about possible.

Not sure about the key to the game, but like former WWF Superstar Jesse The Body Ventura used to say and I quote “......win if you can, lose if you must, but always cheat”.

Maybe not cheat but a bend of the rules, or using that ability at the right place at the right time.

Does it matter? Regardless of how: luck, skill, crystal ball, etc... , they killed it on returns for the time in the game. It makes me think "hey, pay attention to what these people are doing".

I IFT'd S Fund 3/19/2020 but somehow I sit at a lot lower rate of return. That's why I wonder if RESETting at the turnaround of a big drop gives you a better chance at attaining first place.

There are two forms of the leaderboard. One includes all accounts. One only includes accounts that were started before the year began. The latter is currently broken. See bugtracker thread.

I had to shift my time to tspcalc because of email delivery issues over there. Tspcalc demands a higher priority than tspcenter because it is a paid service.

You seem to be way up as well. Your unrealized gain is 58%.

Does that mirror your real account?

It seems your 17% YTD is only from your first 4 IFTies (doesn’t include your 3/19 IFT).

“Does it matter” no not really. But since FantasyTSP is an investing challenge, kinda does matter.

I did mention that they were “seasoned investors”.

I've seen a few posts over the past few months in regards to this, it's interesting to see non-the-less. With a little cyber-sleuthing it of course looks like one individual with multiple accounts who happened to create these accounts at a perfect time. And it's possible they have been doing this for some time, we just now notice it as they hit the top real hard and fast. There is some evidence to their last login time frames too. Anyways, it is fun to watch and there are some really good folks who have been making some AWESOME returns every year - we should definitely be watching them.

Just looked at my previous IFTies and I did one on 3/18, 50 C and 50 S. If only I had in .......
