Today’s sell off

Post by md2018 »

Is toady’s sell off due to no stimulus bill and/or pre-election drop?

It may be related to SAP's 20% drop today:

I think the big news this morning is the virus uptick in cases. Amazon, Facebook and Google parent Alphabet all report later this week, which are all good stay-at-home virus play companies. I think that I might get back into -C- fund, if we have a washout today & tomorrow.

Take this for what it’s worth but historically (past 7 decades) October 28 is the best day for the S&P for the year

It could be due to the fact we are set to loose another +300,000 people to Covid-19 by the end of February.

I am thinking it has more to do with lack of stimulus than Covid. But I speculate that the big investors are betting on stimulus no matter who wins the election.

I too think more lack of stimulus than COVID. But everyone was waiting for a fall COVID rise and the first sign of it, it was panic mode. I was holding in the market for the stimulus play. I knew the odds were against me. Can hold no longer. I'm in cash till the election. I plan to be back in quickly after. Regardless of the election results, I see a market rise into the end of the year and an extremely good 2021. Enjoy the ride.

Seems like a strong RE market is the only thing limping this "V-shaped" economy as of late; with all the covid and stimulus concerns. God I wish the TSP had a REIT, lol.

If someone is thinking about moving from G...to C and S, maybe today or tomorrow is a good day to move?

Looking uglier this morning. S&P and DOW nearing 3% drop already. So many possible influences - no stimulus, COVID, election uncertainty. Some big earnings reports coming late Thursday. Looking at the charts, what goes down often goes up (and up quickly). I know because I always miss it!
Good luck with your TSP and retirement plans!

Wait for me to go to G. That is usually when C and S go up.

I listened to “my strategic forecast” last night. He said that if the SPY closed around 328 today (which it did) then it would be an “absolute buying opportunity”. I wonder what he says tonight.

In the forecast tonight he thinks the Market will attempt to rip higher by Friday but long term there will be “open the trap door selling once they suck you in”.

That sounds about right. LOL. No moves yet. I'll dream on it and maybe roll the dice tomorrow! It's a gamble any day right now. Election results will probably drag on with delays and that will stir things up for sure.
Good luck with your TSP and retirement plans!

From a technical view, the market is operating right where it needs to be preparing for another leg up then the G fund is the place to be. IMO.
