Do you think the TSP would ever include a crypto option given the popularity as of late?
Any rumors out there?

Re: Do you think the TSP would ever include a crypto option?
I always read the TSP Board's minutes when they come out. I don't think there's anything on the radar for crypto within the TSP for the near and middle future, at least as far as the board's official discussions go.
However, if the US officially begins accepting crypto as a valid currency (meaning, the Federal Government accepts it as legal tender for the purposes of paying taxes), then that might change. As for now, I think the TSP board is considering crypto to be an untested commodity or fad, and they're waiting to see how it plays out long term. Depending on the political winds, it's entirely possible that the US government might even outlaw crypto entirely. It wouldn't be very smart, IMHO, but would be unsurprising given our government's tendency to make its fair share of silly / unnecessary laws.

Once Latin America & all (or most) of Europe covert over to Bitcoin as their National Currency, the US hands may be forced in the matter as far as recognition goes. Hoping that TSP offers an ETF option next September that leverages (no pun intended) some balance of Crypto exposure…
