I made my transfer back into stocks (S fund) per my plan, and the first day back....Is projecting to be a down day, according to the futures...Gonna be more of a negative start to the year I guess!....But!, Fingers crossed....We get a monster February like last year!!

Cheers!

No one knows what can happen, so don't beat yourself up.

The guys that I'm following are saying the 1st half of 2022 will be challenging. Typically midterms are difficult and the midterm of a 1st term president typically are some of the worst (e.g. 2018). So, that's more to consider.

I'm still tooling with my own strategy and after much throwing around, I landed at this bad boy TSPCalc 165454. Of course, as you said, all it takes for me to go back into equities and I'll keep losing. :D

The I fund is the best (at present) equity fund YTD. It's only the 18th of Jan, but I have a good feeling that's where the "wins" will be this year.

Have a great day!

Best,

Bubba

For what it’s worth, Williams%R just hit -98 on SPX, signals ENTRY POINT into the C FUND should this market ever depict a reversal…

2-3 consecutive UP days would be nice!!!

Best of Luck (everyone) in all you choose to endeavor!!!

Meh, I just try to think of it as stocks going on sale. If I'm in the market, then my paycheck contribution is buying them at a discount. If I'm out, then the market going down is just helping me for when my strategy tells me it's time go buy back in.

Like most things in life, it's all about perspective and how we choose to look at a situation.

Yep. Discount. That's my new favorite word.

Thanks for helping me reframe my perspective. I mean I think we all hate red days but when I was actively trading that usually meant there's blood in the water and it was time to buy.

Yup, my paycheck contribution is Thursday, so with Aitrus’s regards, I hope today and tomorrow are C and S down days :)

Our Bi-weekly contributions are negligible compared to our account balance, all things bein’ relative (of course)..

Rumor has it that there'll be two (2) hikes in March.

Best of Luck (everyone) in all you choose to endeavor!!!

ProduceMan:

Our bi-weekly contribution @ 19% (max.) is roughly $1,000-$1,750, but I would believe most of us have a TSP Balance of approx. $500,000 & that amount is a mere 0.30%.

The more important aspect of any downsurge is that (hopefully) we’re not taking hits of $5,000 (1%) per day on our account.

The 2nd comment concerns the 5 Interest Rate Hikes that the Fed is targeting (this year). Totally unprecedented…

The last time they hiked 4 times in one (1) year, I believe the market corrected itself -30%.

Best of Luck (everyone) in all you choose to endeavor!!!

For whatever reasons and/or excuses, the bears are now in control of market.

Today started out good and it looked like a sure up day. Too much volatility for my blood. I wanted to go out with a bang, but this isn't the year. I'm planning to retire this year and I will have to spend a lot of time sitting in the G fund.

I’m sure wingchaser has a candlestick description of today’s market action. It’s probably something like “up-side down spinning top, with a negative shadow”. :D But I call it a head-fake day, a move to get us thinking things have turned around, so we'd make an IFT.

I’m teasing you Wing, what would it be called?
