Re: News
Looks like good ideas to me, and following the science:
"Popular appreciation of and respect for government service and public servants have steadily declined in the United States since the 1960s, with only two brief exceptions: in the 1990s during the Clinton administration, and in the months immediately after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. There is a particularly deep sense of distrust in the U.S. federal government. In an April 2019 Pew Research Center poll, for example, only 17% of respondents indicated that they trusted the federal government “to do the right thing.”
We need to go back to the goal of "A Few Good Men", and women.
Look around your office right now, I'm sure theirs's some you would cull.

That argument is a fallacy. Argumentum ad numerum. As in: root canals have a 5% approval rating, therefore, they are bad.Tomanyiron wrote: ↑Wed Feb 23, 2022 8:35 am Looks like good ideas to me, and following the science:

Re: News
This is the usual banter from one group. It's sad really. If you look at the number of federal employees, our numbers have remained steady since the 1960s. The US population has grown. That means that there are fewer Federal employees per capita than in the past. In essence, the government has been MUCH more efficient.
Oh well, this is a popular notion that has been parroted without any actual data to back it up...and the usual suspects will keep it going into eternity.
One more thing. Tomany is saying the usual thing where there are useless people working in your organization that should be cut. I have a response to that. That's (a) true from everyone's perspective. While I do my job well (in my opinion), I'm without a doubt that others think I could go, just like I think that of them. "The grass is always greener on the other side..." and (b) I've worked in enough companies to know that there were useless people there too. So the notion that useless people only work in the government is utter nonsense. They work everywhere...
