Bigdrum, I like that. It's very true.

So why did the fund rates jump north of 5% on the morning of 11/10 out of the blue?

Big Jumps

Post by seawatcher »

Big Jumps like today make me wonder if it will fall back down the next day but now we have a long weekend. Hate to miss more gains next week if happening.... anyone thinking about taking the money and run (to G)? And, I know, the day is not over yet.

The CPI number for inflation came in .3 lower than expected. So investors take this as good news that the Fed hiking of interest rates is finally working to bring down inflation. So the hope would be that future Fed rate hikes will be lower. But you have to wonder if it hold through the day. If it doesn’t than maybe the Big Investors are using this to get out of of the market?

All plausible scenarios. Place your bets (limits, stops, etc.)

That is exactly what I was thinking earlier today, but I didn't do it. Sudden stock market upswings lately rarely last more than 3 days before some kind of setback or reversal. Maybe I'll switch to G tomorrow? I came into November 100% in my current S fund, so I could get back in a stock fund anytime again before the end of this month. Generally, all the markets are open all day tomorrow (except the bond markets), but the Federal Government is closed. Question: If I make a fund transfer before noon tomorrow, would it take effect at close tomorrow or on Monday?

TSP.Gov shows effective date would be Monday Nov. 14. Would be nice if TSP.Gov was open when markets are open. Frustrating!

The DWCPF index is currently up nearly +1% and the EFV & EFA ETFs are running a little over +1% today at midday. Don't know why they turn the charts off here on holidays, when the markets are all still open and trading?
