Somebody say something

Post by jimcasada »

It's been a week since I've seen any new posts or replies on here. Is this forum not working, or is everyone switching over to other TSP forum sites, such as found on Facebook?

It's up and running, it's just been quiet lately.

Aitrus/Matt:

I detected an TSPCALC issue today.

Here's an example: for strategy 175327, the next IFT per the web site is Thurs the 27th. However, the email alerts directs the IFT on the Weds. the 26th. A full day ahead.

I think the default setting for IFT alerts is 24 hours ahead, but if I recall correctly that time is customizable for by the user.

I re-checked both website and email screens.

The website table clearly shows a '27' as the IFT date; the email verbiage states the following:
Greetings,
Strategy #175327 trades to S fund.
Input your IFT at TSP.gov before 12:00 PM New_York time on 6-26-2024
Thanks for using TSPcalc.com.
There is a 1 day offset, at least for 175327. https://www.tspcalc.com/seasonal.php?ID=175327.

I noticed this as well, and sent an email to the TSP Calc support desk. If I had to guess, it's probably a Juneteenth-related bug.

Got it. I'll let MJ know.

Good observation. Most likely the code that generates the emails hasn't been updated with the Juneteenth holiday.

Same thing happened to me. I got a text and email notification to do an IFT today but it should be for tomorrow.

Update from MJ:

"The alerts are indicating one day early due to a Juneteenth bug. The calendars are correct. This will be fixed by this weekend. I appreciate your understanding."

That sad truth is that web forums have been dying for a long time. TSPcenter's time will certainly come.

Changing to 100% S today. Falling behind my benchmark (L2035)
I am just an average Joe. I have no clue to what the market will do.

Balanced allocation but using Jahbulon's for guidance
Benchmark: L-2035 Fund

I see the market as little to gain, much to lose. I'm staying in G unless a solid buy point comes.

Moved to real world G fund Jan 2023. Yup, missed 2023 gains. OTOH, Schwab account doing nicely. Tired of noise of market pundits- either gloom or exuberance. Odd feeling that something ain’t quite right with the markets. I’ll use loose cash and follow Uncle Warren into short term treasuries. Will reevaluate TSP allocation this fall. Might even stop by local coin shop and pick up a dozen silver rounds or 1 ounce bars for grins. At least I’ll have something to hold and admire.
