They're at it again

If you hammer at something long enough, eventually it will break. Maybe they won't get all they want at once, but they're chipping at our retirement and it will eventually all break. I don't understand this race to the bottom.

Re: They're at it again
I think the most interesting points about the latest proposals to congress are that the $140 billion savings comes from Jeff Pon, the Director of OPM and not the Heritage Foundation or James Sharp of the Trump administration AND that all the "savings" recommendations are punitive (nothing that could possibly benefit employees).cswift01 wrote:https://www.myfederalretirement.com/pub ... hanges.cfm
More info.
Chris Kowalik pointed out that Jeff Pon doesn't know the difference between a COLA and locality pay:
He wants to take away retiree's Cost Of Living Adjustments because he thinks the Gov is paying retiree's Locality Pay. I wonder what else he DOESN'T understand but will try to take away too.Pon says, "When federal workers become annuitants, it's not up to the federal government to determine where they move in retirement, and pay for where they live."
Another point of view from our betters:
From your captain:Chris: So, speaking of employee satisfaction, my final insight is, addressing a comment from Ms. Weichert with the Office of Management and Budget. She cited a data point in the 2017 federal employee viewpoint survey that found that 61% of respondents said that they were 'satisfied' with their level of compensation. Her comment was, "That's actually above levels that you would see in the private sector pay." Here's what I found really troubling about this statement, and kind of the context in which this statement was said. She's siting a survey that is supposed to honestly assess employees' viewpoints, and she's using their responses to justify reducing pay and benefits to be more like the private sector. Almost as if she's saying, "Hey, let's keep cutting benefits until federal workers are equally as dissatisfied as the private sector is."
The beatings will continue until morale improves.
