2022 Pay Raise, 2.7%...hoping for a better number

Post by 23V23C »

The President stuck to his planned pay raise for 2022, giving us 2.7%. There is still hope Congress does a little better when the appropriations are enacted by increasing this to 3.2%, or better. At least this is what I am hoping for considering the rate of inflation and the fact the salary cap for House staffers will be raised to $199,300, up from the maximum salary of $173,900 last year. That's a nice pay raise @ 15%!!!! Surely giving us the 3.2% wouldn't hurt.

Feds in certain metropolitan areas, such as the washington metro area, will still get up to 3.7% raises due to locality pay. Otherwise, I am grateful to get any non-negative or non-zero number any year. Still much better than those poor souls in the private sector getting none or being prepped for layoffs--or those about to be evicted per the latest supreme court ruling. I enjoy living in the fed bubble of guaranteed pensions and de facto job security with annual cola.
Could be much worse.

Maybe between a pay raise and a COLA we might still get up to 3.2% . . . glad to see the politicians taking care of themselves and those close to them
