This is very relevant news… likely to cause controversy. Yet; coming fro
My foxhole: I went to two visitations/wakes for co-workers in the last week.
Two.
There are two more coming up. This is a tough thing to watch. I’m really all about you choosing what you place into your body, but the paranoia that had spread in my office building can perhaps be controlled a bit better with these measurements in place.

All government employees are public servants, meaning our core mission is about providing for the "public good". That should be clear to all of us feds.
The public good is literally defined as "....services that benefit all members of society, and which are often provided for free through public taxation".
If a federal worker's personal beliefs lead him/her to refuse to take a very simple, safe, and readily available option to significantly reduce the risk of spreading a deadly disease to any member of this society during the performance of his/her job--that person has knowingly and willfully put his/her irrational personal belief system over the public good.
Therefore, that individual is subject to termination. Politics, gender, and religion have nothing to do with it. It's about doing what we ALL signed up to do when we took that oath on our EOD's.

OK, but how far will you let the government dictate what you must do?bloobs wrote: ↑Thu Sep 16, 2021 6:54 am All government employees are public servants, meaning our core mission is about providing for the "public good". That should be clear to all of us feds.

What it they tell you, you got to get the flu vaccine? You say OK. And then they say you must get a vasectomy, you're having unhealthy children. How far will you let them go
But here is the big one, what if it was Trump, that ordered you to take the vaccine?

The "government" is not overstepping its bounds when it decides to respond in a purposeful manner to mitigate a catastrophic public health emergency. As a matter of fact, that's EXACTLY what any good government is SUPPOSED to do. Other "inherently governmental" activities (maybe a few of you govvies have heard the term before) include public safety services (law enforcement) and national defense. If the government decides to forego fixing a public health emergency that is a clear and present danger to its citizens, then who's it then? Corporations?Tomanyiron wrote: ↑Thu Sep 16, 2021 7:14 am OK, but how far will you let the government dictate what you must do?
Remember, feds employees are the "government". So we do not have or expect all the same rights and privileges as the people we are supposed to serve.
T, I have been increasingly disappointed in you lately You should know by now that I try very hard to avoid making irrational and biased decisions about every aspect of my life. Knowing that, do you really think I would, after a throughtful analysis, refuse a product or service proven to benefit me personally, while also ancillarilly helping those I work for (e.g. tax payers). Really?Tomanyiron wrote: ↑Thu Sep 16, 2021 7:14 am But here is the big one, what if it was Trump, that ordered you to take the vaccine?

Should you be mandated to get this if your working from home and haven’t stepped or would be expected to step back into the office / workplace? Any thoughts on that?

Bloobs, I think you know my response was mostly rhetorical, not personal.
I was presenting questions of how much erosion of freedoms we should allow.
There will be an administration by the other party sometime. And this could be precedence for something more dictative.

What about all the reports of reproductive/menstrual side effects?
What about those who have already had the disease?
Are congress/staff and the USPS going to be subject to the same rules?
There is a storm brewing.

In the State of Georgia, for every vaccinated person who died, there were 23 unvaccinated people who died.

How many of those were after the vaccine became widely available? There was no vaccine for the first 8 months of this mess.

1) It's not your "duty" as a Federal Employee to allow the government to decide what goes into your body.
2) It is your CIVIC duty to oppose Government over-reach.
