Greetings veterans,

I live and work in Okinawa, Japan, but I've never been active duty. I know that my grandfather was stationed in Japan during the Korean war, but I don't know where. My dad doesn't know either, but he is coming to visit me in a few months. Do you guys know if it's possible to find out where my grandfather was stationed, so that we could visit?

Thank you,
-Matt

One resource to consider is the online National Archives. There you can request Veterans’ Service Records.

+1 on requesting the Veteran Service Records. Many of the WWII records burned during a hugh warehouse fire back in the 70s, but if you go here (https://www.archives.gov/veterans) you can request the records electronically. You may need your dad to request them since he's the next of kin. Best of luck tracing your grandfather's service!
