tsp.gov change password

Post by alphaalpha »

Hello, I haven't logged in to my tsp.gov account for a couple of years ( no longer federal), Can't see how to change my password. It seems maybe need to go into a My Account page and enter lots of private, secure info all over again. is this legit? Why can't we change pw on the page that comes up under tsp.gov? I can see my account amount etc. thanks for any help

I received this email recently. Maybe they closed your account?

As part of our ongoing commitment to ensure the utmost security and protection of your financial assets, we at Thrift Savings Program (TSP) are introducing a mandatory update to our account security protocols.

Important Action Required: Update Your Password and Enable Multiple Authentication Methods

Effective Date: May 13, 2023

In order to continue enjoying the services and benefits of your TSP account, we require you to update your account with a new, stronger password and to enable multiple authentication methods. This enhanced security measure is designed to safeguard your account against unauthorized access and potential security threats.

What This Means for You:

Update Your Password: Your new password should meet our updated security criteria, which includes a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.
Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): This added layer of security requires more than one method of verification to access your account, significantly increasing its security.
Failure to Comply:
Please be aware that if you do not update your account with these new security measures by the specified deadline, we will be obliged to assume either:

Demise: In the absence of account activity or compliance with security updates, we may consider the account holder deceased.
Disinterest: A lack of response may indicate a lack of interest in maintaining the TSP account.
In either scenario, as per our policy, we will proceed with the closure of your account and the return of funds to the Federal Reserve.

How to Update:
Please visit our website and log into your account to make these crucial updates. If you require assistance or have any concerns, our customer service team is readily available to assist you.

We understand that these changes may require some adjustment and we appreciate your prompt attention to this important matter. Your security and trust in our services are of paramount importance to us.

Thank you for your cooperation and for being a valued member of the Thrift Savings Program.

thanks for the reply, No, I can get into my account and see it, just no apparent option to change the pw.
It seems to prompt me to go into another web site and reenter info.
