Actually the thing in Egypt is not quite what we'd like to think. Mubarak, a decorated war hero from the 1973 Suez Invasion, did not resign to the Parliament. He handed the country back over to his army. They dissolved parliament and tossed the constitution. They then went in and took over the square where the protestors had their little function (what State Department account did we pay those demonstrators out of I wonder?) and sent them on their way to restoring the livelihood of Egypt. Elections may take place in September, or they may have to be "postponed." Reminds me of Animal Farm. "All animals are created equal but some are more equal than others." If the army can get the price of food under control and give out some pay raises it is a lost "revolution." Not quite the thing Americans thought it was, but the glitz was good for Obama's re-election campaign.

Good point. I left off Iran.........
How the heck did I forget Iran! They are buring as I type!
I think the military will find it difficult to let go of the power in Egypt.

The military is the driving force in Egypt. The parliament thing was to appease the United States and got them more aid than Israel over the years. I do not see the army handing over power any time soon. But maybe the poli sci folks should step into the conversation.

Don't forget Bahrain. I've been there a few times and while it's a nice country, there are alot of unhappy folks there.
