And how about getting those cheap Republicans to cut their staffs in half before going after the poor teachers? Anyhow. I suspect a new group will be running Wisconsin next time around. He may have won the battle but he lost the war.

I like that idea. Both sides square off in a cage match where the last man standing gets their parties political agenda passed that day. They could turn it into a premium channel on cable and charge $9.95 a month to watch. Maybe that would help to erase some of the deficit.

The politicians would start taking martial arts classes and going to the gym to increase their chances of winning which would help boost the economy even more. It would also lower their healthcare costs which would decrease their drain on the taxpayers.

The union is a way of making sure that more tax dollars get used for the equivalent of welfare. In my department at least 5 people have not been fired simply because the union is too powerful.

We have a very active union but have had no issues firing people when it's justified. It just takes a manager who documents everything and follows the process to a tee. It's not that the union is too powerful, it's that you have managers that don't know how to get it done, or don't care. It is really not that difficult.

Sorry, but it's management fault for not documenting the employees' infractions. A properly maintained employee file in most cases cannot save a problematic employee. As someone who has worked as both a union employee and manager, I know, and I appreciated working in a union shop as a manager, I earned more and had better benefits.

And only because he is....Walker's moves are 100% geared toward union busting....the unions conceded to his requested increases, only to be spurned....it's not about the budget, it's about the union....and don't think what started in Wisconsin will end in Wisconsin, it's coming to a state near you....yes, unions have thier faults, but they give the average employee a voice and rights as well...currently nearly half of the long-term unemployeed are over the age of 45 and have "some college", a bachelors or more.....there is a war out there aimed at those earning the most benefits....Without union protection, you too, can be replaced by cheap young labor...

[quote="chief04010"]The situation kind of reminds me of a stanza in a famous poem:

"Then they came for the trade unionists and I did not speak out because I was not a trade unionist."

Again, it is all about breaking the right to collective bargaining. I have watched as my non-union husband lost his job, my friends husband"s lost theirs...they've spent their retirement funds, and some may lose their homes....these are not people who lived extravagantly, they worked hard and saved....it's gone...all in their 50's, educated, and now overqualified for jobs they never thought they'd be happy to get....it's ugly on the outside, too...

If you think that this stand on state rights has no effect on you, well, think again...Wisconsin is just a test..."they" are coming after the feds next...or more...
While saving money is laudable, it is blatantly evil to do it by putting a gag in the mouths of workers. Our governor is acting more like a gas station thief who fills up and drives off without paying because he thinks $3/gallon is too high.

We cannot let allow our rights to be hijacked by political puppet of corporate pirateers.
