I just received my prepared returns from my CPA today and I'm still recovering from the shock of what I owe. Unbelievable!

No. They don't get my money until the last possible day when I must give it to them!

On the bottom of my monthly budget spreadsheet for each year, I have installed the functions to do my taxes: state and Federal, which changes the taxes and yearly totals so that this retired vet can know his tax burden to the dollar. Therefore, I am not surprised by a large tax bill and deficit during the next year. Preparing the tax forms early is not painful for me.

There should be an option for "I don't know."

Are medical expenses beyond pre-tax premiums and co-payments (aka hospital visit) tax deductable? Thanks in advance...

TSPKing: Medical expenses that exceed 7% of your adjusted gross income are deductible if I remember right. So far I haven't had that much.

I have received my refund already. $12.00 from the state and about $100.00 federal. I always try to cut it close without having to pay.

Already got both the state and Fed returns. Was a good year that paid off 2 low balance credit cards.
