Dividend Paying Stocks
Anyone have advice or experience in dividend paying stocks like;
REIT: AAR
Or
GAS: NKA?
My currently dilemma is investing 70,000 for postive monthly cash flow without buying and renting a home. Any thoughts or advice would be great.
Thanks!

Hey MICO,
One very good dividend stock that Crondanet introduced to me was VGR. In addition, some good choices for your goals are Coca Cola (KO), Altria (MO), and AT&T. I currently am long AGQ with plans to open positions in at least one of the above mentioned companies once some additional capital is freed up for me. (Probably MO). Happy trading bud!

Re: Dividend Paying Stocks
The risk with REITs is as mortgage rates rise (which at some point they will) the REITs will tank. On top of that they will to a degree follow the moves of the market, both equities and housing, so the best days may be over for the REITs although the high dividend ratio may continue for a while. I used to own NLY and AGNC.

If you want some high yield blue chip stocks, check out the Dogs of the Dow website. If you buy the small dogs, you will get some high yields at a cheap price. For example, Intel is currently a small dog and it's stock price has increased about 10% in a month. Good luck!

Re: Dividend Paying Stocks
mico did you buy AAR? If yes, you may have found you bought something else: http://seekingalpha.com/article/297639- ... -confusion. Looks like I'm getting a dividend I didn't expect.
Re: Dividend Paying Stocks
what about a monthly dividend with PGH?
Re: Dividend Paying Stocks
crondanet5 ,
I didnt buy any AAR, I was close to pulling the trigger though.
planetibet,
I looked into INTC and it looks extremely attractive.
I was thinking ATVI or INTC or AXP. AXP is looking like a good leader with all the debit card hatred going on right now. Curious to hear your thoughts.

JBone,
Are you sticking with VGR or moving over to MO?

Re: Dividend Paying Stocks
Haven't seen many post on this subject but if anyone is still monitoring this issue here are some tickers. I've had some of them in green for over a year and got good returns. AGNC PSEC HHY PHK GMLP NYMT NRF MMLP STX CIM FSC CYS. If anyone owns any of the other ones I would be interested in any feedback. Thx.
Re: Dividend Paying Stocks
I don't own any of the ones you listed. Looks like most are financial/loan related and are down in the past year, many with decreasing dividends within last 1-2 years. You do list MMLP--I would not recommend any limited partnership in a taxable account as the K-1 tax forms can get confusing if you do your own taxes. There are closed end MLPs (e.g. KYN, TYG, NTG, CEM, FMO, JMF, SRV) that don't have the tax issue, they provide good dividends but are closely associated with gas & oil market. It depends on what you are looking for and your risk tolerance
Re: Dividend Paying Stocks
Here's what I have in my very small (mostly) monthly div portfolio:
AGNC, CLDT, WSR, NLY, BRG, STAG, EDIV, PCI, MORL, PSEC, BIZD, STWD
Heavy on the REIT, some biz dev as well. I do like watching my $ rise each month, even though it may be only a small %. There's something about seeing an ever-growing inflow of $.
(whoa, I guess this is an old thread. anyways.)

Re: Dividend Paying Stocks
I'm thinking about getting into good dividend paying stocks, but not a clue as to where to start. What has been your criteria when choosing? Is there a ratio minimum you look for?
