Over on finance.yahoo.com is an article titled "Changes Could Lead Millions to Abandon Retirement Plans." Apparently some brilliant person down in Washington thinks the 401k retirement contribution tax deduction should be eliminated, perhaps as early as December. I suggest you read it ASAP.

I simply do not understand how the law can be constructed to hurt the physical tangible workers producing goods for the economy by taxing more, while allowing corporations - an entity that doesn't eat, breath, or can go on stand in a trial - breaks.

For example: 2009 Exxon Mobile made 19 billion in profits, paid no Federal Income tax, and took a 156 million rebate from the IRS

Don't mean to hijack or go OT, but reading stuff like that makes me sick. And before someone gets in here, I'm not arguing that XOM is wrong for doing that, if I were in their shoes I would have done the same thing. It's the law that needs to change (just as they're trying to do for 401(k) plans).

The beauty of our political system is that it makes it almost impossible to get anything done......I guess that is a curse too........

I think that such an action against the working people of this country on 401K investments would break the bank in terms of the remnants of trust the people have in Government. The backlash on such a demolition of hope and the American dream would be a game stopper.
