Nothing inspires confidence....

Post by Chulke »

in your strategy more than getting slaughtered on the first day in your new fund after transferring in!

Happens nearly every time...but I'm telling myself to trust the process and the strategy this year!

Just hope things pan out by the end of the year!

Yeah it's been a rough couple of days. The last correction a few weeks ago was so short lived, we were overdue for another. Plus the S fund was way overbought for the year.

I am sitting in I with a planned move to S on Friday (26 March). A big part of me wants to jump early because I don't think the correction is long-lived; the other part wants me to sit tight until we find the floor. Either way, it's a nail biter. I'd be surprised if we retrace all the way back to the Jan. 1 prices, but we're getting close.

Yeah, I got hit too. Nothing will stop this train from flying off the track. Not even "free money".

2017, 2018 and 2019 there were pullbacks in March. And there was that terrible March last year. Maybe because of Global Warming, March is the new May.

I agree. five percent last 2 days in the wrong direction is not a confidence builder. :-)

Speaking of confidence... interesting to see what the market does after Biden’s news conference.

Yeah, I think we are headed down. Nothing really goes straight up or down though. The market doesn't seem overly impressed by the fed inflating the bubble as of late. So many bubbles floating at once, three I can think of. Inflation is happening, and of course hyperinflation is something that the Federal Reserve cannot protect the American people from. They have no dry powder left. I think once we have a decent correction I will be looking at the C fund.

Many IFTs to C fund today. Any thoughts? All moves following strategies? People hopping off the S fund roller coaster? Infrastructure spending bill pending? Tesla expected to go up and big part of S&P500? Hoping the S fund does much better in April if stays above the 50 day average.
Good luck with your TSP and retirement plans!

1. All moves following strategies? - Yes
2. People hopping off the S fund roller coaster? - Perhaps, based on TA data it has been very volatile
3. Infrastructure spending bill pending? <<-- Clutter...noting but hypothetical or conjectural info...discard
4. Tesla expected to go up and big part of S&P500? <<-- Clutter...noting but hypothetical or conjectural info...discard
5. Hoping the S fund does much better in April if stays above the 50 day average. <<-- Assertion supported by historical data

Thank you! There is a lot of clutter. Learned not to watch the news -- if the market goes up or down, they say "It's because of this!" or "It's because of that!" making conclusions after the facts are out.
Good luck with your TSP and retirement plans!

Last day of the month so I used my second IFT to avoid having to use one in April.
