To clarify my point about S doing ok in April-May. On average it does--but C fund does about similar during that same period (~2.5%) but with a lower standard deviation (+/- 4.5 v. +/- 6.5). Couple that with the present S volatility, and the C fund becomes the logical pick from a risk/reward perspective.

Infrastructure spending bill 🤣🤣🤣
Only 5% for to road and bridges, the rest goes to Unions.
This is going to be the biggest tax hike since the 70s on corporations.
This current administration is a joke.

The gods have spoken, I don't think they agree with your assessment. Folks who let politics cloud their entire judgment really saddens me.

2021 has the potential to be a better year than April to Dec of 2020. Turn that frown upside down! :D

Yeah my move to C fund on Wednesday was part of my plan...And it paid off well...Basically I just wanna get to a point where I'm averaging 20% year over year returns...and that means sticking to my plan! or at least most of the time sticking to it! LOL!

We all form emotional ties to our money and watching it grow or go down invokes stirring emotions in both direction....the hard part is decoupling your emotions from your money....That's been the hardest part for me anyway! Its an internal struggle some find easy to navigate and others, like me, have a real hard time with!

I get where you're coming from, acidfly. However, Mj has declared that TSPCenter is not the place to discuss politics. Please refrain from doing so. The only political points that may be discussed is how they may or may not affect the market / retirements / TSP investments.

What you said Aitrus...and the fact that none of his comments were even valid or based on fact (e.g. MISINFORMATION). The following is the actual composition of the $2T Infrastructure Act 2021:

(a) $621 billion in infrastructure spending dedicated to rebuilding the nation’s roads, bridges, ports, and rail systems

(b) $300 billion to bolster manufacturing

(c) $213 billion for affordable housing

(d) $380 billion for research and development, modernizing America’s electricity grid, and installing high-speed broadband around the country.

(a) $400 billion for home- and community-based health and elder care.

I agree. This does not look like a business friendly administration, but as an invester, I see an oppertunity to take certain advantages. Just have to be adaptable and patient.

Front page of the Post, above the fold:
"With stimulus cash and jobs spike, U.S. emerges as main engine for global economic recovery"

There's no evidence to support the claim that this administration is not business friendly. Those skyrocketing ETFs that are your TSP funds are actually made up of businesses, believe it or not. Up 10% in 2 months would constitute a "positive" reaction and not a "negative" reaction by pretty much any person who has ever dealt with stocks or businesses. But don't let facts get in the way of a good story.

A number of "seasonal plans" (including 85660, which I tend to follow) have a switch from C Fund to I fund tomorrow. Anyone else a little leery about leaving C Fund to move to I fund? Thanks, and good luck to all.

I'm in the same boat in plan 88676. Plan has me going to I fund tomorrow (Tuesday) and staying for a couple of weeks, then back to C. I"m staying put in C... I just don't trust the I fund. Too much volatility for me.

Yeah I’m following 85660 also...it’s got me me leery for sure! Of course I’ve always been leery of the i fund with blackrock’s proprietary algorithm for adjusting each days closing price! I’m gonna take a look back at the past 6 month performance on the i fund and then make my decision....

Thanks to both of you for your comments. I believe I'm just going to sit tight in the C Fund......

I'm staying in C as well, even though my chosen strategy says go to I. We're in a tricky (ier) place with markets right now...A month ago, all seemingly "in the know" were predicting a "major correction" sometime in April. Most have now changed this frame now to "beginning of a long-term, gradual downtrend" and suggest moving from S to C fund. I have benefitted from TSP calc and this discussion because I'm able to pay attention to markets in a way that I feel is more informed, even interesting.

But yes, please keep you political commentary, whether informed or clearly ignorant, to yourself.

Per my strategy I moved to I...Something told me that was the way to go! I won't voice them on this thread but My chosen strategy had a lot to do with it!

I have learned to follow my strategy. I've been using TSPCalc since 2019. Every time I followed my instincts, I've lost out. My 2019 and 2020 gains were in the mid to high 20's% and thus far in 2021 I'm up over 10%. My gains would be double that if I would have stuck with my plan. Follow the plan!
