I too am all in today. The S&P last flashed above the 50 SMA back on Dec 21st and I prematurely went in and had to get out with a 1% loss. But today is the second time breaking above the 50 SMA. As long as it can close above the Dec 21st high (387.68), I think it was a good decision.

Hold your breath on that thought…

So far so good: the Dec 21st high (and 100 SMA) is holding support after hours.... but maybe it will drop further down to the +half Standard Deviation at 386 (Dec 26th high) and rally from there....

Thanks! By the way, I switched back to G today. I still don't expect any of these bounces to last much more than 3 days, as long as the Fed is cracking down on inflation. Still have another IFT I could use to get back in before the end of the month.

Price bounced off the Dec 26th high (386) in the premarket and rallied to close back above the 50 SMA. This is a significant move, but will it hold??

S&P closed @ Sessions’ High & ABOVE its 50-Day SMA. Historically, that calls for CONTINUATION (momentum) for a period of 7-10 days (as JATELLE would attest). These are not normal times, however, and I’m sittin’ (here) right before a CPI print on Thursday…

Can someone please tell me what was I thinkin’?

Wish I could be more like JIMBO!!!

Wing, you are thinking straight - IMHO! The market is clearly setting up to RETEST the 200 SMA (398) and the +1 Standard Deviation (399). The last time it tested these was on Dec13/14. This time if it can break out and pull away, it will pull the 50 EMA back above the 50 SMA - and if this happens.... then boy we've got ourselves a runner!!

Wing, just noticed you're pulling out out a day after hopping back in. What did you just see/confirm?

I moved back to G today. The trend is up,with good momentum. BUT 'You Can't Trust Nothing No More'.
And I see short-term overbought.

T
I wanted to get in last week in my TSP acct but held back because risk/reward for a maybe 1 week early jan. bounce wasn't worth giving up my remaining IFT to get in at the end of the month--per my seasonal.

However, I am still partially in with my non-TSP accounts--and about to tighten its stop-loss settings for what's in store after CPI and early earnings.

Bloobmeister:

I didn’t put that IFT “in”, that happened 3-4x last year with no (apparent) explanation.

Backed out the “mysterious” IFT & now stand naked in the wind for the Thursday Inflation Outlook…

GAP UP, Full Body Candlestick left in the wake of today’s action…

On the eve of tomorrow’s Inflation Print, I’d like to think that that infers something promising, though in this Investment Landscape…
