TSPcenter costs and revenue

Post by mjedlin66 »

Those of you who are TSPcalc subscribers just got an email about the rate increase. The TSPcalc subscription rate is changing from 19.99/year to 24.99/year. Almost all of the revenue gain is going toward paying the TSPcalc 1099 contractors more money.

For years, TSPcalc revenue has subsidized the existence of TSPcenter. TSPcenter runs on the server that TSPcalc pays for. So the only real cost is what I pay Aitrus for moderation.

If we can find some revenue source for tspcenter, it will add onto Aitrus' pay.

The advertisement experiment has failed spectacularly. My dashboard shows I have earned $7 total in the last 60 days or so (I don't remember exactly when I started it).

So, ads are out. I hate ads anyway so it isn't a huge loss.

When Bill owned tspcenter, he used to offer a subscription option through PayPal that was $5/month. I don't think the services provided by this website are worth $5/month, frankly.

Web forums have been on a long decline. Many of the forums I used to frequent are no longer around. They used to be unparalleled sources of information, where people posted their knowledge, photos, and ingenuity. I would like to keep tspcenter's forum around for years to come if there are still people using it.

What do you think? Who would pay like... $10/year just to say thanks and get a badge under their name?

Thanks
Matt

No problem with that here. Thanks MJ and Aitrus! The work you both do here is appreciated.

Thanks MJ for your work keeping both sites going for us. I'm fine with paying $10/yr. for access.
Aitrus, thanks for your work here as well.

Not a problem here...$10 is a bargain.

I'm sorry to hear the difficulties, Matt. I'll send you some suggestions on how you could gain revenue and maybe not have to worry about asking people for extra cash. Give me a couple of weeks. Thanks!

I hate subscriptions and avoid them at all cost. However, your work is much appreciated and I use TSPcenter everyday. I would gladly pay a small fee to support the website and your contribution to keep this forum going.

I'd pay $10, but make it optional. Make that the ad if you'd like. Also, no paypal. Payment on TSPCalc seems to work well.

MJ - to be perfectly clear here, both TSPCALC and TSPCENTER are critical financial management services that I/we do not want to diminish or worse, disappear.

Hope that was clear enough.

I'd pay $10 a year for this TSP Center.

I'm in. Have TSPCALC subscription and would support $10/year for TSP Center. I agree that the TSPCALC payment process works well. Thanks for keeping the engines running.
